"My Town" Craze
Hey peeps!
So I've heard about this new place in town called "My Town". Located in Batu Satu behind Charcoal BBQ & Grill restaurant and next to Lai Lai (Very old shoe store!). Passed by the restaurant a few times and not tempted to try due to some negative feedbacks I've heard / read somewhere. However, last night.. we decided to give this newbie a try! hehe
The place was pretty packed with humans lastnight and so I have to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air! hehe Well, I prefer that way than to sit in such crowded place. Really love the interior concept, sort of vintage.. old school.. sort of like some kopitiam. The menu offered are foods from Brunei itself and most of them are Malaysian cuisine.
Told ya I love the interior, it feels like old but also new. Hmm how do you explain that feeling?! haha I especially love the "chalkboard" wall. :D
You can see what sort of bread / pastries they serve that day. :)
It was PACKED! :(
For extra condiments - Sambal, Cut Chilli, Fried Onions and Chilli / Tomato Sauce.
How it works here: You look through the menu first then there will be some papers for you to fill in the code for your foods/drinks and later show the paper you filled in to the person at the counter and pay. :)
So Le Fiance ordered "My Town Cup Cup Rice".. yeah... the presentation was pretty blegh and it cost B$2.50 (So cheap right?!). It was basically white rice with Beef Ribs cooked with soya sauce (I think lah! haha) cause it tasted like daging kicap to me. I love nothing about this dish as it was stone cold when it was served to us. Pretty disappointed. The Beef Ribs were pretty tender though :p haha
and I.. ordered the Seria Kolo Mee. It was alright definitely need some more seasoning though. Good effort nonetheless. hehe Oh! this cost me B$3.00 (Also cheap! can totally come here whenever you're broke / looking for budget food but they surely need to improve the quality 1st!)
But the dessert was the bomb! We ordered some Cendul Durian and I'd defo come back for this dessert. Double Thumbs up! and this cost B$5.50.
Their menus on the table. The newspaper concept. Quite nice :)
Thats your mademoiselle pretending to read the menu :p hehe
Overall, the foods were pretty disappointing except for the dessert. I hope they'll improve by the time I come by next time! Obviously they need to put more effort in serving a good/great quality dish! The prices are okay though. Anyways, all the best "My Town" in this industry and hope you'll survive in the long run. :)
Foods: 5/10
Price: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Verdicts: To those fussy customer who wants good food, this is not a go to place but no harm giving this a try as they serves / offers quite alot of dishes. I personally love their Cendol Durian.
Until next post!
xo,
W.
